The Web Designer/Developer understands the strategy, the intended user experience, and the content, then determines the best format and functionality to serve the content to users, regardless of device and accessibility needs.

- Can step into the reality of the target audience and then plan the visuals and functionality to meet the audience’s needs
- Is interested in the clinical, social, financial, and emotional aspects of healthcare

- Believes missing deadlines without prior notice is completely unprofessional
- Stays in communication with the Project Manager on the status of tasks, change requests, and potential roadblocks that could impact the timeline or scope
- When issues come up, starts with problem-solving and identifying potential solutions
- Is a solid communicator to both CareContent team members and clients about timelines, realistic expectations, barriers, problems, and most importantly, solutions and ideas
Design Duties
- Working closely with the visual designer and UX Content Strategist to create and revise website user interface wireframes and visual design concepts for client projects
- Giving direction to additional contracted web developers
- Collaborates with visual designer to present concepts for review to clients and the internal CareContent team
- Uploading content to content management systems
- Creating and maintaining style sheets for company brand and client blogs
Web Development Duties
- Leading development of new client websites, directories, and resource libraries, including gathering requirements, planning, delegating when needed, and executing
- Collaborating with project manager to create and communicate timelines, project plans, ideas, solutions, and estimated deadlines
- Developing and modifying custom WordPress themes without the use of 3rd party page builders
- Managing hosting, plugin updates, and functionality updates for retainer clients
- Managing web development contractors to maintain or build client websites
- Leading quality assurance testing for new website launches
- Collaborating with UX Content Strategist to conduct user testing testing for websites
- Completing tasks related to maintenance of client and CareContent sites
- Working with visual designer to create web and mobile optimized designs/templates/layouts
- Troubleshooting issues on client and CareContent sites
- Reviewing and approving plugins for sites to ensure they won’t mess up sites
- Provides expertise in creating solutions for projects and stay abreast of relevant topics related to web development that could impact our business
- Builds websites and functionality that are ADA compliant, in partnership with CareContent’s ADA compliance lead
Qualifications/Skills Needed
- Front-end and backend development on WordPress
- Deep experience with Advanced Custom Fields and Gutenberg blocks
- Very comfortable in PHP (7.4 through 8) – troubleshooting, refactoring, writing from scratch
- Experience with WP Engine hosting, Git version control are big bonuses
- Adobe Creative Cloud
- Proofreading (nothing too deep, we have a content team)
- Clear communication and follow up
- Google apps (Drive, Gchat, Hangout, Gmail, Analytics)
