I grew up in hospitals. By age 5, I knew more medical terminology than most kindergarteners. My mother’s cancer diagnosis made me all too aware of the things that can happen to our bodies when we’re sick — and the amazing ways we try to fight them.
Fast forward 15 years, and I’m finishing my degree in English at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. I spent the first 8 years of my professional life teaching writing, but I was drawn back to being a student. After I finished my MA in Writing, Rhetoric, and Discourse at DePaul University, I found CareContent.
CareContent has allowed me to merge my two passions: writing and staying healthy. I believe knowledge is power when it comes to our bodies. It’s up to us to learn how to take care of our health, and I love being a part of spreading that knowledge.
